Case Study

Angus worked with an international company, where a high proportion of the managers came from overseas, and all with specialist skills in highly technical areas. His challenge was to create a stimulating, high level course contributing to the development of management skills at the company. Delegates needed to be provided with a practical tool kit for managing staff backed up with sound legal knowledge, enabling them to apply good pro-active management techniques. Foreign managers needed to be brought up to speed on the legal environment surrounding employment in the UK.
Angus and a colleague designed, wrote and delivered a two day programme comprising a practical summary of the main legal provisions affecting the relationship between the company and its staff. The second day concentrated on the human aspects of the employment relationship and explored the fundamentals of communication, with case studies highlighting the different approach to the diverse issues that may be faced by a manager every day.
