Dealing With Redundancy - Outplacement Support
Tough Times, Handled Sensitively: No-one wants to be involved in redundancy. Sadly there are occasions when we are faced with the fact that redundancy (or outplacement) may be the only suitable solution. If you are in this situation, you are probably considering the following questions:
- What will the impact of the redundancy be both on those being made redundant and those who are remaining within the business?
- How will people feel about the way redundancy has been handled?
- What can we do to minimise the negative impact that redundancy has on those whose employment is being terminated?
- How can we demonstrate the firm’s values about our people being ‘our most valuable asset’ whilst making people redundant?
- How do we balance the need to reduce overheads against the need to ‘do the right thing’ in handling the redundancy process?
What support can we offer to those remaining in terms of coming to terms with the loss of colleagues, maintaining morale, dealing with insecurity and fear whilst continuing work with less support (and a potentially increased workload)?
A Positive People-Focused Solution
Positive action that makes a difference is the key. Our approach to Outplacement exemplifies this through the following key elements:
- An absolute commitment to assisting you in delivering a positively handled outplacement process
- A determination to ensure that those who are losing their jobs feel supported, valued and motivated about their future employment prospects
- A strong resolve to ensure that your remaining employees feel motivated, valued, supported and recognised for their continuing service
- Our desire is to make a difference wherever we are working and whoever we are working with – employer and employees alike.
Different clients want to offer different levels of support when redundancies are happening. We offer a wide range of options:
Option 1: One-to-one coaching and career support for those being made redundant only. A series of coaching sessions looking at personal motivation and self-esteem, personality type profiling, a strengths and weakness audit, CV and job application advice and interview training.
Option 2: Team workshops for remaining employees to review working practices, build morale and re-envision them for the future. This is a two-part modular programme looking at team vision and purpose, roles and responsibilities, handling change, motivation and teambuilding.
Option 3: A combination of both option 1 and 2. One-to-one coaching and career support for those being made redundant. Team workshops for remaining employees.
Both remaining staff and leavers have clearer direction and goals going forward
- Teams have opportunity to appraise their current ways of working to find efficiencies and opportunities for future business growth
- Staff, whilst feeling the loss of colleague(s) feel confident that they are working for a caring and supportive business
- Prevent the possibility of people feeling that they have been ‘processed' and treated like a number rather than a human being
- Builds confidence within the organisation at a time when it most needs it
- The profile and reputation of the business remains intact
Employees who are going through the redundancy process and the remaining teams that are left behind enabling them to deal with the changes effectively.
